Fantastisk placering men...
Fantastisk placering p? skr?ning ned mod floden med et scenarisk kig op og ned ad floden. Meget autentisk bygning med 8 p?ne og meget tene v?relser.
V?rre var det med v?rten, der var hyret ind i sommers?sonen. Han havde ingen kompetencer i at drive stedet. Han serverede the-vand med kaffegrums og sm?r ,der var smeltet til olie uden at han syntes, at det var et problem. Han anvendte toilettet uden efterf?lgende h?ndvask for derefter at anrette ost mv. uden brug af handsker. Det var lige sp?ndende nok.
Deres aftensmad var simpel men der var masser af vin fra v?rten, der anvendte hele glassets st?rrelse.

The staff and owners were all informative, kind and helpful. The location has one of the best views of anywhere I’ve ever been.

Hidden Gem
Everything was amazing except for the bed which was horrible. Food and service was excellent but the bed kept me from getting a good sleep. Loved the decor!!

A stunning view of the Douro valley. We had an excellent dinner. One needs to make reservations beforehand to eat there. There is nowhere else in the area to dine. We were not given a dinner option however, the roast beef dinner was excellent as well as the dessert.
The car ride up is a bit sketchy because it’s a VERY narrow to lane road winding up a Mt !! However the view makes the trip most worthwhile. Bedroom was nicely decorated and comfy.

We stayed two nights and the facilities were nice, clean and decent value for money. The dinner, at 35€, which the estate offers was absolutely horrendous though. Overcooked steak, the wines were nothing else than low-quality and served at totally wrong temperatures, which an estate in the middle of Portugals wine region could definitely improve upon. Breakfast was ok-ish, but very basic. The location is sub-par, as it‘s close to a 30 minute drive from Pinh?o were all the major restaurants are, which makes it hard to not choose dinner at the estate.

The room was pretty. Bed was hard. Not enough toilet paper. No hair dryer. Pool was filled with algae and not swimmable. Dinner was terrible. Dry steak, oily potatoes and tasteless spinach. Wine made from their vinyard sounds lovely, but seeing it’s coming straight from the Douro wine country- we expected better wine. Starter, dinner and dessert, including white wine, red wine and port was all served within 30 minutes (all served with the wrong temperatures, for us wine lovers). The wine was also filled up way too much in the glass, but most would see that as a good thing! Breakfast wasn’t very tempting as meat and cheese was standing out without any coverage for 3+ hours. Lovely view though!

We stayed 3 nights, wanting to know more about the Alto Douro Valley region. The guesthouse is well situated and well maintained. All rooms face the river. A simple "buffet" is included. If you don't want to go back to the other places for dinner, you can't order it in advance from the hotel, they will cook you a delicious 3 course dinner with 3 wines(!!) for a grand sum of €35. Worth it!
