  • Guest:Torre de Mandy’s is a fantastic and unusual place to stay. The public rooms are like a museum with cozy bedrooms and a cute balcony over a garden that we enjoyed. It was wonderfully clean, beautifully kept and so interesting! The breakfasts were sumptuous, and the managers were delightful. They were very accommodating and flexible, allowing us to leave our luggage after check out for awhile. We cannot recommend this Inn highly enough, we loved our two days in Obidos!
  • Guest:I came here with high expectations. It is, after all, the kind of place I usually love: small, quirky, historic. However, my lofty expectations were not entirely met. Room: we stayed in the Manuel Maria room. It was adequate but unexceptional, and a bit small. The bed was comfortable, the shower was good and there were enough electrical outlets available. The furnishings and wall decorations were uninspired and our chair was broken. We could easily hear noise from the room next door and the adjoining courtyard. I would not consider the room a great value for the money. Grounds: read the reviews. They don't lie. The library and dining room are stunning; every bit as lovely as the pictures suggest. They are truly the highlight of the property. We felt like we were in a museum. One specific complaint: every morning the floors were doused with what I can only conclude was some kind of industrial strength solvent. This was unpleasant and unnecessary. Location: perfect. We loved staying inside the walls (by the way, Obidos is one of the most lovely, albeit heavily visited little towns I have ever been to), and the house is located on a little alley away from the main thoroughfare. Hospitality: a personal touch was distinctly absent. Before we arrived I wanted to know the checkout time: I sent three emails before getting a response. Check-in is on your own (I should note that we were emailed clear and detailed instructions, including a map, well in advance of our arrival. Tip: do not, under penalty of death, or at least enduring trauma, attempt to drive into the walled city. If you set your GPS to "Pastaleria Arcus" it will take you to the most convenient free public parking lot.) The courtesy email I sent alerting them to our arrival went unanswered. There is no information in the room about the town, places to see or eat, etc. Staff were civil but mostly ignored us. We did get to meet the owner, Maria, on the last day, which was nice. Food: breakfast was good: your standard meats and cheeses, cereal, fruit, bread, jams, yogurt. One morning we had tasty pastel de natas. Overall, if not for the stunning common areas and the location I might have given this place three stars, which is quite unusual for me. If I were to return to Obidos I wouldn't rule out staying here, but I would take a look at other options.
  • Guest:Also known as the Tower of Poets. Built in the 16th century this inn has an incredible interior with many levels and interesting seating areas with a 2 level library filled with many antiques. Another level down from there is the spacious dining room which included a delicious breakfast with lots of variety to enjoy. Our room was comfortable and clean. The host/hostesses were very accommodating & friendly. The location is great for walking around the quaint town of Obidos. There are winding streets with interesting shops & the Castle of Obidos. Highly recommended as a great comfortable spot with lots of history to explore.
  • Guest:What a fantastic place to stay. It's small but has such a sense of history and has been beautifully preserved. It's got some real character and you feel like you're stepping back three centuries when you walk in. We were the only ones when we stayed so I had the library/lounge all to myself which was fabulous. The host has left port and glasses for guests in the lounge. The bedroom isn't that big but considering the age of this building, they've done a good job in squeezing the room in. The bed is very comfortable. They serve a really big breakfast with excellent coffee and orange juice. You have to walk into the village so only carry what you need for the night's you're here. The directions to the hotel from the host were easy to follow. The price for the night when we stayed was cheap for what we got.
