  • Guest：Juste parfait. Petit déjeuner un petit peu décevant. Beaucoup de fourmis.
  • Guest：The hotel is stunning and I highly recommend anyone stay here! The owner, Jerome, has done a wonderful job designing each space. All the rooms are different, each more beautiful than the next. They are all very large with high ceilings...everything is tres chic while still being welcoming and warm. Some rooms overlook the gorgeous garden (with a pool) and others have a view of the small harbor so it's a win no matter which room you choose. And as a guest of Le Lanternon, you can get discounts at some local shops. The rooftop (the lanternon) provides the most stunning sunset views of the town and harbor as well. We all can't wait to return.
  • Guest：As part of a larger trip, I decided more or less on a whim to visit the ?le de Ré and I chose Le Lanternon based on photos. If anything, my stay surpassed my expectations. It could not be more ideally located, mere steps from the port and from the stops for either the bus from La Rochelle or the Inter-Iles Ferry. The house is beautiful and has been refurbished and decorated with a great deal of care. Rooms are available facing the port side or the garden side of the property. I chose "La Canopée" a very large top-floor room overlooking the beautiful garden, the pool, and neighboring rooftops. The entire town of Saint-Martin de Ré is so lovely as to seem nearly fictional and this room was equally idyllic. The host extended exceptional hospitality to me, was kindly complimentary of my French, and very happy to give me recommendations on where to dine and also suggested a great walk to a neighboring town since I -- to the horror of all other guests -- don't ride a bike. If you do (and of course you do!), you'll be able to get all over the island with ease! But even without wheels, I would have happily stayed longer. If you find yourself in Saint Martin de Ré I warmly recommend that you stay at Le Lanternon. Don't forget to go all the way to the top of the house and take in the view.
  • Guest：Misses the mark Great location and charming house. Our room was nice and spacious and the bathroom was lovely too. Le Lanternon has potential but misses the mark on a number of fronts, principally service related. It all starts with a bizarre check in rule of 5pm. There is no one available to even leave your bags with if you arrive early. We were offered breakfast the first morning and told to look at the picture of the offerings online for the ‘lux’ breakfast. The pic shows a beautiful spread with an overflowing bowl of colourful fresh market fruit, which we were told was bought the morning of. Reality was a half full bowl of banana, a few tiny pieces of kiwi and mushy melon. You had to scrape the condiments from almost empty jars and the coffee was mediocre at best. €25pp is not good value so go out and find yourself a nice cafè instead. For the price of the room you get virtually no service. No room service during your stay or amenities in your room. You’re not even allowed to help yourself to a hot drink in the morning (unless you’ve paid for the overpriced breakfast). There are many other places to stay on the island where you’d get much more value for your money.
