  • Guest：We’re on our Second day at Ehalagala Lake resort and are only sorry we can’t stay longer. I had read the last review in January and was slightly concerned by the comments about the room and food. I can honestly say we have had no issues at all . Our room is lovely (we are in a bungalow) the room and bathroom are spacious and spotlessly clean. We went on Safari today and came back to an elephant made out of towels and a fresh bunch of flowers in the room. The food has been excellent very tasty and good size portions. There were only 8 people in house last night so we had a set menu of salad, then soup followed by a main of either fish or chicken with veg and rice and then a choice of desert to finish. Breakfast this morning was fresh fruit followed by toast then mushrooms, sausage beans and eggs how ever you wanted them all freshly cooked and tasty. The Hotel is full tonight so it will be buffet for evening meal and breakfast tomorrow and if they are anything like the two meals we’ve already had they will be lovely .We have had a dip in the pool today and relaxed on the sun-beds for an hour with a beer which are all nice, no monkeys in sight unfortunately. The staff have been amazing from the minute we arrived, they are all so friendly and speak excellent English, they even clapped at my poor attempt at a few Sri Lankan words. We would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel and will definitely return here to stay on our next visit to Sri Lanka. We are only sorry that we are only staying 2 days here
  • Guest：This is a really difficult one because the staff there were so lovely. Let’s start with the room.. it felt as though we were the first ones in there in a long time! The room smelled damp, it felt damp, there was no extraction in the bathroom meaning the shower steam had no where to go. We couldn’t leave a window open because of the monkeys! On leaving, our belongings felt damp!! We couldn’t sit outside because of the monkeys, as soon as you opened the door, they were there.. just waiting!! Don’t get me wrong, the wildlife was beautiful. We saw the monkeys, squirrels, beautiful birds a gecko (also one slept in the room with us) and the most gigantic water monitor!!!! But there was black mould everywhere. On the curtains, on the walls, on the ceiling! The food was really poor. Cold, unappetising and no where near enough. Desert was fruit and once it was gone, it was gone! Breakfast was really poor too. Now, we didn’t complain (and now I’m kicking myself) because this was our first hotel of the journey and we really didn’t know what to expect but I so wish I had complained! Again, the staff were lovely and this could be a fantastic hotel BUT money needs spending on it. We were glad to leave and would not visit again.
  • Guest：Beautiful hotel, surrounded by nature and beautiful birds, so quiet and peaceful. The bed is extremely comfortable, the shower is great, the rooms are spacious. Short walking distance to Sigiriya rock and to Sigiriya town. The pool is beautiful and extremely clean, with an awesome view. Stuff are really helpful and extremely cordial. Special mention to the restaurant staff. The food is amazing, the chefs are lovely. A special thanks to Sunil and Guilan (the restaurant staff) they represent the best of Sri Lanka, the people. Will always be in our hearts. If we come back to Sri Lanka we will definitively will stay here. Ayubowan.
