What a super little hotel!
Upon arrival, we received a warm Scottish welcome and were shown up to our rooms. It may be the narrowest detached hotel in the world but the rooms aren't lacking in space. The following morning we had a good Scottish breakfast before heading north on our journey.

Allison, Siobhan & Tim were very hospitable! The hotel was very clean & well maintained.
I would highly recommend the Famous Star to anyone visiting Moffat!

What a great place to stay, great story and history in this place. Remarkable food.

Huge room overlooking the town square. Great hosts, great dinner and drinks, huge breakfast.

A quirky and unique hotel being famously narrow
Unique hotel being so narrow. Consider ourselves lucky getting the front room on first floor. A large room with view onto town center, perfect. Parts of the public areas are showing signs of tiredness but that doesn’t detract from its charm

Pleasant helpful staff, clean room, great breakfast, central location, could walk to shops, interesting things to see in town, lovely views of hills.

Probably won’t stay here again
Food was not available when we arrived as it’s now not served on a Wednesday. We did not have the breakfast but it was as available at an extra ￡9 each. The room was clean and the beds were comfortable. The bathroom was so small that the washbasin was in the bedroom. The extractor fan was very noisy.

Hotel was recommended to us and we were not disappointed possibly fortunate to have been offered a larger first floor room in a unique hotel. Once we figured out the bedside lamp switch (ask the staff) our time here went quickly. Location on main street on a warm town event filled weekend but external noise didn't interrupt good night sleep. Breakfast great with add ons and take outs catered for. Only downside to the place, in common with many older properties is the abundance of stairs. Would we go back yes no hesitation.

One night stay. Lovely place great hosts. Unfortunately I was woken by the room next door at 4am banging draws and bumping about until they left at 5.25am !

A pleasant Hotel centrally located in the town . The rooms have all necessary amenities and clean. The beds could do with plumper pillows though. Breakfast is payable separately and was filling and freshly cooked to order.
The bar prices were very reasonable
