Super basic place if you need a place to crash. Unfortunately the spa bath didn’t work for our visit. It is close to the train line and highway so there is a bit of noise. Lovely people and clean place.

Great stay, the room was perfect. We walked to our restaurant for tea which I probably should have done more research it was a little rough but certainly not the motels fault.

Fantastic stay with 3 young chicken in two bedroom unit. Very spacious, spa bath great with kids, no noise even at peak summer season. Air con would have been beneficial but was particularly muggy and fans available. Also some smoking areas on deck would be great if non smoking given we had to leave windows open at times. Will definitely return...well set up and comfortable stay!

The best accommodation in Masterton. Rooms are super awesome. A complete boutique accommodation. Highly recommended . The motel is clean and shower is amazing. The host are so amazing and they go out of the way to help you.

Very poor experience. At the time of booking, the first nights stay was immediately taken from my credit card. Then before our trip, my husband was called up for hand surgery, and we needed to change our plans. When I contacted the Gateway, to cancel the booking, we were unable to get the $160 refunded. I have never come across this before. So when we did get to rebook, we stayed just one night at the Gateway, and the other nights elsewhere .And so glad we did. This was the worst place we have ever stayed. The outside looks totally unkempt and uncared for Reception hours are 2pm till 5pm...only .But no-one at reception at 2.15 and had to ring. Then.. there is notrestaurant and bar. The big sign at roadway should be removed. So the nearest dining was about 1.5 kms down the road, and it was pouring with rain. Decor is outdated. No Sky TV channels. Milk in fridge was past use by date. Bodywash container in shower pump was broken. The microwave cord did not reach the plug, without pulling the shelf out, and have it balancing precariously. Could hear room next door having shower at 9.30pm. Then when we went to bed, there was a light in the kitchenette, that could not be turned off, and it flickered all night long, so intense you could still see it with eyes shut. So...on the plus side, the bed was comfortable, and the bathroom was nice and clean. But value for money, and comfort, I cannot recommend this place

Unfortunately, you requested same day cancellation which couldn't be done because of our policy. We are the only hotel in town with 24- hour check-in policy. No matter how late you need a check-in, we certainly offer that service. It seems your review is mostly deriving from the fact that your same-day cancellation request wasn't accepted by the hotel, and you had an issue with every aspect of the hotel. Will really appreciate if you can go through other reviews on Trip Advisor as well as other OTA's.

We booked this facility as it was advertised as having a restaurant. We were disappointed to to learn that it was not functioning.The facility generally needs some T L C although the room was clean, the bed really comfortable and the bathroom really updated and impeccable.The lack of tv channels was not up to the standard of other properties we have stayed in. The entrance could do with a modernise and spruce up.

The Kiwi room was well appointed with 2 large Queen ? beds and quality furnishings . the bathroom was the best I have seen in a long while . Very quite being at the rear of the Hotel, and staff were helpfull with a booking issue. Only letdown was a lack of ground maintainance around the entrance and garden , with long grass , and a tired look. Having said that , would stay again!
