Kaka Retreat is very well located in a peaceful spot that is only a few minutes walk to the village, shops, pub and ferry terminal of Oban. It was very much appreciated that Lindsay came and picked us up with our bags when we arrived and transported us back to the ferry when we departed. Our apartment was lovely and had everything we needed for a very pleasant stay. We loved sitting on our balcony watching Tui’s and Kererū in the surrounding trees. We would definitely choose to stay at Kaka Retreat again when we return! Thank you, Lindsay and Vicki.

Friendly and welcoming hosts. Comfortable well appointed rooms. Great spot to wind down after some hard tramping. Complimentary Shuttle to the post office in the morning to checkin for flights was a bonus. Will be staying at the kaka if I manage to make it back down for sure.

It's a short walk up the hill to the units, but if it's not for you, they will pick you up from the ferry, but walking up the hill from the ferry was not an issue for us. The room was clean, although the dining chairs were becoming a bit "wanting". The kitchenette was sufficiently equipped to allow us to make our breakfasts for our 3 mornings. Dish drainer could do with its own draining tray. Shower lovely and hot. Our only bugbear was having arrived on the 5.30 ferry, and as we had not requested a pick-up, we walked up the hill to the accommodation to find it unattended and only a telephone number to ring. Luckily, we got access to a telephone and was told our room number. But an email to us prior to arrival as to how we could access our room would have been nice if we were arriving after office hours and not opting for a pick up. But to their credit they emailed on the night before to check if we needed a ride to the ferry.

Convenient accommodation near town. We only stayed one night. We were met in town by a staff member who drove us to the retreat. He offered to bring us a continental breakfast which was great as we had an early start the next morning. We heard kiwis at night and there are numerous birds on property.

We stayed here Sept 21 to 23. The resort is very well kept. Everyone is extremely friendly. Room very comfy clean . The ground make you feel like you in a jungle birds chirping we got here before busy season and it was nice to mix with the locals in the pub and on the streets everyone will stop and talk to you for ever. Met the local police great guy we could of spent more time here but on 30 day walk about

環境一流！設施齊全，服務到位，值得一提的是房間就在一座小山的樹林里，周圍花草襲人，各種當地鳥類和還有一只可愛的小貓經常到訪，星空超棒，銀河清晰可見！

Fantastic. Nice and close to town. Walk is a pleasant one. Accommodation good. Good sized unit with two double beds (very comfortable!!!), kitchenette, couple of chairs. Bathroom has amazing shower much appreciated after day out walking. Warm and snug in June with radiator heating. Lovely site with own covered deck, good privacy, some garden/bush. Totally recommended this accommodation. Decor & furnishings are high standard too. Staff friendly and so helpful. Courtesy transfers to/from accomodation on arrival. and departure too. The big city accommodations have some lessons to learn from Kaka Retreat!

Really nice, clean and spacious. Free pick up from ferry (although the 400m wouldn't be hardship either ??). Very comfy bed, nice host. The little grey cat from the neighbour is a very friendly ambassador of Stewart Island ???? Thank you for a really enjoyable stay.

This is just a few minute walk from the harbor. The small house was awesome and we had 3 bedrooms and a beautiful kitchen. The owner was great and answered all our questions. I will tell you that there are some pretty steep hills on the island. We enjoyed the exercise, but if you are going there and have a difficult time walking up a steep hill. Then just arrange a transport to the hotel. We saw some people going to a different hotel struggling up the steep short hill. The hotel feels like you are all alone, and it is really beautiful. We would recommend, and are very glad we stayed here. We will be back. Remember there is only one or two places to eat on the island, so the kitchen and small shop in the harbor is a real bonus.

Clean and totally functional but poorly maintained needs paint and carpet that’s not patched Way overpriced I wouldn’t pay anymore than $150 an night at best here. Helpful staff who did offer us a ride to Oban flight base and a lovely setting as well
